As soon as a child is referred into our care at Happy Family Children's Village, our team develops a case plan and begins creating a long-term solution for them while in a small family-style environment. We have continued to emphasize this area, and we were thrilled to reunify five of our residential children at the end of 2022. We love catching up with all of our reunified kids during our three annual Reunified Days and seeing how much progress they have made at home.
Benja was referred by social welfare into our care in 2020. With complex medical issues, and a single father who, in spite of loving Benja dearly, was unable to keep him safe and healthy, our last-resort care was the only remaining option.
After working intensively with his father until we were confident that he would be safe at home, we were thrilled to be able to tell Benja in November 2022 that he would be back home for Christmas, where he belongs. Benja has continued to thrive since returning home, and we can't wait to see how he progresses in the future.
